Sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, the hospital opened in 1938. The first administrator at Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta served not only as an accomplished surgeon, but also as the hospital's electrician, plumber and carpenter. The hospital is recognized as a Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacement. The hospital is also known for its high quality emergency services.
