The birth of your baby should be one of the most exciting events in your life. With the guidance of our physicians, nurses, midwives, and other members of our obstetrics team, we provide a comforting and caring birthing center for you and your new baby.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at California Hospital Medical Center is a 26-bed, fully equipped unit. All 26 beds are licensed for intensive care. The NICU is rated as a Level III, Community unit and has surgical credentials. The staff is committed to the care of ill, premature and term infants born at the hospital from birth to discharge. The staff also cares for the emotional and educational needs of the parents and families of the newborns in the unit.
Take A Maternity Tour
Maternity Tours at California Hospital take place at 10:00 AM most Tuesdays/Fridays in English and Wednesdays/Thursdays in Spanish. If weekends work better for you, we also host tours on the third Saturday of the month. Maternity Tours last about an hour and cover the hospital’s birthing areas and policies. We prepare you for what to expect when you arrive for your delivery. During the tour, you can:
- Complete your pre-admission papers so you don’t have to do this on the day you arrive to deliver.
- Enjoy a free hot lunch
- Get all of your questions answered.
- Take home a packet of information that includes: a hospital bag packing list, helpful tips, and important phone numbers.
Schedule your free tour by calling (213) 742-6083. See our calendar of events.
