Neurosurgical Team



  Steve Chang, MD
Dr. Chang is a part of Barrow Brain and Spine on staff at Chandler Regional. He is specially trained to treat patients with complex health spine and brain disorders, and is a mentor for neurosurgical residents treating patients with spinal disorders and brain tumors.

 

 
 
 


  David Fusco , MD
Dr. David Fusco was born and raised in the New York City area. He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Harvard University in 2000. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2007.  During his residency, Dr. Fusco completed infolded fellowships in complex spinal surgery, minimally invasive spinal surgery, pediatric deformity and scoliosis surgery, endoscopic and skull base surgery, and stereotactic radiosurgery.
 

 
 
 


  Mark Garrett, MD
Dr. Garrett is a neurosurgeon at Barrow Brain and Spine, and is on staff at Chandler Regional Medical Center. As liaison he will be an important part of our Trauma Neuro team. He specializes in cranial and spine surgery, tumors of the brain and spine, skull base neurosurgery and complex spine surgery.
 

 
 
 



  Taro Kaibara, MD
Dr. Kaibara is Medical Director of Neurosurgery at Chandler Regional Medical Center, and brings his experience to patients both in Chandler and at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. He treats patients with both simple and complex cranial and spinal disorders, utilizing the latest in surgical techniques and instrumentation, employing minimally invasive approaches.
 

 
 
 



  Kaith Almefty, MD
Kaith Almefty, MD, received his bachelor’s degree from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and his MD from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. He graduated with honors from both universities. Dr. Almefty received several awards in medical school for his academic achievements and his character. Dr. Almefty became a resident at Barrow Neurological Institute at Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix. He also completed a fellowship in skull base surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Dr. Almefty joined Barrow as a neurosurgeon after completing his residency.
