Medical Students


When you join a Dignity Health residency program, you become a member of one of the largest hospital systems in the nation and the largest not-for-profit acute care provider in California.

Marian Regional Medical Center (Marian) offers audition rotation and sub-intern opportunities for 4th year medical students interested in Family Medicine and Obstetrics/Gynecology. We accept applications from current medical students whose school holds an affiliation agreement with Marian. Check with your school administration to confirm whether your school holds an agreement. We can also work with schools to obtain an AAMC Uniform agreement which can be processed quickly. Please note that Marian does not offer observerships or externships. 

Located along the central coast of California, Marian also provides free meals from our hospital cafeteria.

Applications for both Residency Programs, Family Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN), auditions/sub-interns for the 2024-2025 academic year will be accepted January 2024 through April 2024* at which time we will close for review and final selections made by mid-May.  

Sub-Intern rotations for Family Medicine will be scheduled starting the week of July 29th 2024 through mid-December 2024 at four consecutive weeks; OB/GYN will schedule starting mid-June 2024 through mid-January 2025 at four week blocks. These rotations will focus on those medical students interested in either a Family Medicine or OB/GYN residency. 

Requirements for audition rotation application:

  1. Application - Marian Family Medicine Residency Program (2-sided), or Application - Marian Obstetrics/Gynecology Residency Program
  2. CV or Resume
  3. Letter of interest which documents your reasons for wanting to rotate through our program and what you would like to accomplish during your time here.
  4. Transcript from your medical school – Unofficial acceptable
  5. USMLE and/or COMLEX scores

*If Marian Residency Programs have received sufficient applications with all requirements, we have the option to close the “Selection Process” at any time prior to April 30th.  We will continue to accept applications for wait list option.
