Woodland Clinic medical group ranks high in excellence survey

Dignity Health Medical Foundation today announced that Mercy Medical Group and Woodland Clinic were both awarded 'Elite Status' from the California Association of Physician Groups (CAPG) 2015 Standards of Excellence Survey. 'Elite Status' is CAPG's highest ranking possible for outstanding quality care.

“We are honored to again receive the highest ranking in the CAPG survey,” said Joseph Jasser, MD, President & CEO at Dignity Health Medical Foundation. “This award shows that we’re well-equipped to deliver a better patient experience, better population health, and better overall affordability.”

The Standards of Excellence survey is a voluntary, critical self-assessment for CAPG medical group members. Ninety-eight medical groups participated in the assessment, covering 11.3 million people in the commercial line of business, including Medicare Advantage, along with an additional estimated 2.5 million individuals in state government-managed care programs.

“The providers at Woodland Clinic and Woodland Clinic Medical Group have a long history of providing quality medical care in our community and we’re honored to be recognized for our work to deliver high quality, compassionate care to our patients,” said Carol Kimball, MD, President & CEO at Woodland Clinic Medical Group.

“Mercy Medical Group providers are proud to be recognized for our dedication to delivering exceptional patient-centric care and our work to continually improve the care we deliver,” said Gregory Cooper, DPM, MBA, CEO at Mercy Medical Group, Inc.

Both Mercy Medical Group and Woodland Clinic received Elite Status in all key domains of the survey, including: care management practices, health information technology, accountability and transparency, patient-centered care, group support of advanced primary care, and administrative and financial capability.

The six key domains measured include:

  • Care Management Practices: Clinical system supports for quality and efficiency on a population scale.
  • Health Information Technology: Funnel for accurate, actionable information to support clinical decisions and coordinate team care.
  • Accountability and Transparency: Response to the public demand for objective information regarding performance, patient service, and regulatory compliance.
  • Patient-Centered Care: Critical components of access, convenience, cultural responsiveness, and customized individual care.
  • Group Support of Advanced Primary Care: Patient-centered Medical Home model and how it’s used to revitalize the discipline of primary care.
  • Administrative and Financial Capability: Management of complex relationships, diverse revenue streams, innovative payment alignment, and risk-based payments.

“Through the results of this latest survey, physician organizations have made their voice heard that they are fully engaged in changing how patients receive care for the better,” said Amy Nguyen Howell, MD, CAPG’s Chief Medical Officer. “They’re committed to making the patient-centered medical neighborhood a reality across the entire spectrum of healthcare practices nationwide.”

This is the third year in a row that both groups received CAPG recognition. Mercy Medical Group received Excellent Status in 2013 and Elite Status in 2014. Woodland Clinic received Elite Status in 2013 and 2014.
