First Baby of 2015 Born at Mercy Mt Shasta

On a beautiful 4th day of January, Jordyn Amira made an early arrival at 7:37 pm weighing a whopping 9lbs. 8.5 oz. and measured 20 inches long. Jordyn was born to Weed residents Marysa Rigau and Michael Wilson.

Jordyn is surrounded by the love of her brothers and sisters, Sylas and Kaydence Hunt, Courtney and Michael Wilson, Jr. and Sharese Jones. Jordyn is also blessed with Grandmothers, Veda Harris and Rachel Lewis and Grandfather, James Rigau, a resident of McCloud.

“Each year the hospital staff eagerly awaits the first baby of the New Year“, stated Joyce Zwanziger, Manager of Marketing and Community Relations. “When a baby is born at Mercy, the song “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” is played over the hospital intercom. It is always a joyful moment and gives us an opportunity to say a short prayer for the newborn and their family”.

Jordyn and Mommy received three overflowing gift baskets filled with goodies. A traditional basket from Mercy contained a special Children’s Bible Storybook that was a gift from Sister Elaine Stahl and the Mission Integration team. A second gift basket filled with all kinds of wonderful treats was donated from the Mercy Mt. Shasta Auxiliary. And a third basket was designed specifically for a baby girl and was donated to the hospital from the Siskiyou Humane Society. A “Baby Boy” basket was also donated from the Siskiyou Humane Society and we are just waiting for the first baby boy of the year to be able to deliver it to the lucky parents. Dawson Wreath Barn of Weed provided a gorgeous bouquet of flowers to celebrate the Wilson family.
