Mercy Gilbert's Lund Family Birth Center offers a variety of classes and support groups to help educate and prepare expectant families. Visit our Classes and Events section for a complete listing and registration.

Pregnancy and Childbirth Education Classes
Mercy Gilbert offers childbirth and newborn care education classes taught by trained instructors. We have special programs geared for expectant teens to help prepare for motherhood and develop personal goals and life skills.

You should begin a childbirth education class by the seventh month of your pregnancy and complete it one month before your due date. Register by your fourth month to assure that space is available.

To learn more about our classes, or to register online, see our Prenatal Classes and Events.

Breastfeeding Education and Resources
Mercy Gilbert is committed to supporting families who choose to breastfeed. Breast milk provides an excellent source of nutrition for your baby and has many health benefits for you as well. We actively encourage breastfeeding as the primary source of newborn nutrition.

Our lactation services team includes certified consultants and educators ready to help you succeed in breastfeeding. We offer breastfeeding classes prior to delivery and a free breastfeeding support group that meets weekly.

Safety Classes
Mercy Gilbert offers a Keeping Kids Safe class for parents, or any child caregiver, focusing on home safety and child proofing techniques. We review child/infant CPR and choking protocol, though participants do not receive a CPR certification.

Grant funding from Phoenix Suns Charities has made our Safe Journey car seat safety class possible. This class is only offered on a limited basis. Free car seat checks are available in the community weekly.

For other child safety classes and car seat check information, visit Classes and Events.
