Mercy Gilbert’s Joint Commission certification as a primary stroke center, means we have taken exceptional efforts to ensure we provide quality stroke care meeting the specialized needs of stroke patients. As a stroke center we focus on providing better outcomes for stroke victims through advanced treatment with the clot-busting drug Activase®.

Mercy Gilbert's Exceptional Stroke Care

  • Our stroke team receives advance notification and detailed information about a patient's condition by Emergency Medical Services' allowing us to be ready the moment our patients pass through the emergency room doors.
  • Rapid access to intravenous infusion of Activase®, the only FDA-approved medication for stroke which needs to be given within four-and-a-half hours of symptom onset.
  • Physical and occupational speech therapists with expertise in neuro-rehabilitation.
  • Stroke Support for survivors and caregivers

Our stroke center team follows the American Stroke Association's Get with the Guidelines Patient Program to track quality outcomes and review processes to make improvements to our program.

Stroke Center Education
Our stroke center has an active educational awareness program teaching our communities to act F.A.S.T. to help identify symptoms of a stroke. Seconds do matter when it comes to getting immediate treatment for stroke. If you feel you or a loved one may be having a stroke call 9-1-1 immediately.
