Van Donated to Support St Johns Food Pantry

The Oxnard Auto Center has generously partnered with the St. John's Healthcare Foundation for the purchase of a new Nissan NV200 compact cargo van to support the St. John's Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) Food Pantry's efforts to collect food and feed families in need.

The new van will be utilized to collect food donations from our local partners and deliver to the food pantry. The vehicle provides a more reliable mode of transportation allowing pantry staff to travel further within Ventura County to collect these donations.

“We are grateful to the Oxnard Auto Center for this generous contribution,” said Darren Lee, President and CEO of St. John’s Regional Medical Center and St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital. “It is gratifying to know that we have partners in our community who recognize and respond to the growing needs of our ministry.”

This gift will have a direct impact to those we serve at the food pantry by allowing us to deliver approximately 90 tons of food per year, provide produce to over 5,000 families, serve more than 15,000 hot meals and provide 2,100 holiday food baskets.

The St. John’s Food Pantry is located at 535 Cooper Road in Oxnard adjacent to Christ the King Church. The pantry was founded by Sister of Mercy, Sr. Carmen Rodriguez in 1985 and since then, has become an essential part of St. John’s Hospitals community outreach.
