All rooms are equipped with adjustable beds, bathroom emergency bells, call buttons, direct dial telephone, and televisions. Please discuss with your care team whether you should get out of bed without assistance. If you need to speak to a nurse, press the call button on the cord attached to your bed or bed rail.
All inpatient rooms are equipped with telephones. Your family and friends may call you by dialing 530.274.6000 and asking the hospital operator to ring your room. All calls within northern California are provided to our patients at no charge.
Color televisions are available in each room and are free of charge.
Newspapers, Flowers and Balloons
Our local community newspaper, The Union, is delivered at no additional charge to patient rooms. Flowers are delivered to patient rooms as soon as they arrive. Flowers are not allowed in the Intensive Care units. Please note that Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital is a latex-sensitive environment, so latex rubber balloons are not permitted. However, Mylar balloons are welcome.
We make every effort to provide nutritious meals that are prepared according to your doctor's orders, including special diets.
If you have special food needs, a dietitian can work with you to accommodate them.
For those visiting, you can enjoy a meal Monday thru Friday, 7:30 to 10 a.m., and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Calling Your Nurse
When calling your nurse, please press the call button. The nurses' station is alerted that you need assistance and will assess your needs and send someone to assist you. If it is an emergency, please make sure the nurse is aware of the situation.
Leaving the Unit
If you want to leave the unit, please check first at the nurses' station to make sure your doctor has given approval.
To support you and family members during your stay at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, we have an interfaith chaplain on staff as well as chaplain assistantns representing various faiths. To contact the chaplain, please call 530.274.6216 or 530.274.6816 to contact a chaplain's assistant.
Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital is a smoke-free facility and campus. Smoking is not allowed indoors or outdoors on the grounds of the hospital.
