Volunteer at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital

The Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Auxiliary members are volunteers who provide support services to hospital patients, staff and the community surrounding the hospital. They have been working alongside our doctors, nurses and administration staff since 1958. Since their inception, they have provided in excess of one million volunteer service hours and have raised over $1 million dollars.

Women's Imaging Center Peer Support Volunteer Program

With the Peer Support Volunteer program, newly diagnosed breast cancer patients are matched with a trained volunteer for support.

To be involved with the program, volunteers must be finished with treatment and have been diagnosed more than a year before. They attend a half-day training, which includes information about confidentiality and patient privacy. Once matched, the peer support volunteers reach out to their patients to listen, provide emotional assistance, steer them to resources for cancer patients, do research or anything the patient may need to help them get through breast cancer. They do not offer medical advice.
