The Saint Francis Memorial Hospital Hand Therapy Clinic specializes in traumatic hand injury rehabilitation, post-surgical hand therapy, and upper extremity repetitive strain injuries.
The Saint Francis Hand Therapy Clinic is your one-stop shop for hand therapy. The clinic is staffed by certified hand therapists and specialty trained occupational therapists who are committed to delivering individualized comprehensive evaluation and treatment to each individual. The team emphasizes psychological healing and symptom management through a variety of methods, including therapeutic exercise, postural assessment, and body mechanics education.
Repetitive strain/vocational rehabilitation services include healthy computer use retraining, ergonomic equipment education, chair fitting, worksite evaluations, posture and anatomy education, and relaxation/stress management techniques.
A physician referral or current prescription is required prior to receiving hand therapy services. Most insurance plans, including workers compensation are accepted.
During your initial hand therapy session a comprehensive evaluation will be performed reviewing diagnosis and symptoms, medical history, and upper quadrant examination (neck), shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist and fingers. After completing the evaluation and discussing your therapy goals, an individualized treatment plan will be established to maximize function and restore upper extremity motion.
A certified hand therapist is an occupational or physical therapist who, through advanced study, specializes in rehabilitating patients with conditions affecting the hands and upper extremities. This high degree of specialization enables the hand therapist to accurately evaluate and effectively treat a variety of upper extremity injuries.
