Meal Service and Nutrition Information

We know that well-balanced, nutritious meals are an important part of your treatment and recovery. The Food and Nutrition Services department at Community Hospital of San Bernardino prepares and delivers healthy, nutritionally-balanced meals for you to enjoy. We also provide snacks and nourishments upon request.

At Community Hospital of San Bernardino, our menus are written and planned in accordance with national guidelines. Meals are designed to promote health and help reduce the risk of chronic diseases by providing less than 2300 mg of sodium (salt) and greater than 25 gm of fiber. Because of these guidelines, there may be less salt in your food.

We care deeply about our patient's health. In order to ensure that the food we serve helps to promote thier physical well-being, we have made a few adjustments to the food we offer. First, we no longer place salt packets on your meal tray. If you are on a regular diet and prefer to have a salt packet, please ask your physician to write an order for a regular diet that includes a salt packet. Second, patient beverages are to include water, tea (caffeinated and decaf), coffee (caffeinated and decaf), milk (dairy and non-dairy), and juices (regular and sugar free) only. Food and Nutrition Services no longer provides sodas to patients. Only patients on Clear Liquid Diets will be given clear liquid sodas (diet and regular) and they will be placed directly on the patient tray. Sodas will no longer be stocked in patient pantries.

Patient meal trays are delivered to the nursing units during the following times:

Breakfast 7:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.
Lunch 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
Dinner 5:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

Please note that patient meal times may vary. If you have any questions, please ask your nurse.
