3rd Annual St Elizabeth Hospital Color Dash

Posted in:
Over 250 community members turned out to participate in the Corning Color Dash on Saturday, March 5th. The family-friendly 5K run/walk held at Corning High School was sponsored by the St. Elizabeth Community Hospital Sports Medicine Program, and despite the wet and windy weather, race participants enjoyed the vibrant colors, booths and fun music.

The event was able to raise $2700 to donate to the Corning Union High School STARs, Students Taking Academic Responsibility, after school program.

“It’s an honor to be able to give back to the community, but also exciting to see the students become active and involved,” Amy Gonczeruk, St. Elizabeth Community Hospital Marketing Manager, said. “The Corning High School students have been so helpful and enthusiastic throughout the whole planning process. It was wonderful to see it all come together in such a positive event for the community.

Corning High School students participated in the Color Dash both by running as teams, and by manning the volunteer stations-- cheerfully sprinkling runners with the color dust as they ran by. The Corning High STARs program offers academic courses, credit recovery, tutoring and enrichment classes for students to participate in.  Enrichment activities range from CPR certification, cooking classes, jazz band, robotics and more.
