Diabetes Education

 

Newly diagnosed or need help managing diabetes? We offer workshops, classes and support groups designed just for you.

 

Diabetes Workshops

Learn how to take control of your disease through self-management skills that will help you stay well and prevent further complications. Workshop topics include: 

  • Pre-Diabetes and Diabetes Overview
  • Healthy Eating and Physical Activity
  • Heart Health and Diabetes
  • Diabetes Medications

Wednesday Morning Workshop

Date/Time: Classes meet every Wednesday (except holidays) from 10 a.m. to noon for six weeks. 
Location: St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Cleveland Classroom
Cost: These classes are free of charge.
Registration Information: Registration is required and family members are welcomed to attend.

Thursday Evening Workshop

Date/Time: Classes meet every Thursday (except holidays) from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 pm for six weeks. 
Location: St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Classroom 4 in hospital basement
Cost: These classes are free of charge.
Registration Information: Registration is required and family members are welcomed to attend.

Workshops are also available in Spanish and Hmong. Call our diabetes health navigator at 209.944.8355 during regular business hours for more information.

Diabetes Exercise Class

Exercise in a supervised safe environment with an individualized program. Regular exercise has been shown to help control blood sugar as well as lower the risk of diabetes related health complications such as heart disease and stroke.

  • Classes will be held twice a week at St. Joseph’s Medical Center
  • Each participant will have an individual evaluation and personalized program
  • Classes are designed to build strength, and increase endurance and flexibility
  • Classes supervised closely by qualified exercise trainers.
