St. Joseph’s is a nationally recognized center for quality tertiary care, medical education and research. It includes the internationally renowned Barrow Neurological Institute®, the Norton Thoracic Institute, Center for Women's Health, University of Arizona Cancer Center at St. Joseph's, and a Level I Trauma Center verified by the American College of Surgeons. The hospital is also a respected center for orthopedics, internal medicine, primary care and many other medical services. U.S. News & World Report routinely ranks St. Joseph’s among the top hospitals in the United States for neurology and neurosurgery.

Founded in 1895 by the Sisters of Mercy, St. Joseph’s was the first hospital in the Phoenix area. The hospital is part of Dignity Health, one of the largest healthcare systems in the West with more than 40 hospitals in Arizona, California and Nevada.

    Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center, Gregory W. Fulton ALS Center, Concussion
    and Brain Injury Center, Neuro-Rehabilitation Center, Cleft and Craniofacial
    Center, brain tumor program, pituitary tumor program, aneurysm and
    cerebrovascular program, stroke program, spine program, epilepsy program,
    neuro trauma program, Alzheimer’s Disease and cognitive disorders program,
    and deep brain stimulation program.

  • University of Arizona Cancer Center – Inpatient and outpatient cancer
    diagnostics, treatment and supportive services including chemotherapy,
    radiation therapy, Gamma Knife and CyberKnife, surgery, diagnostic
    and interventional radiology, genetic counseling, tumor boards, nutrition
    counseling, an American Cancer Society navigator, clinical trials and the
    cancer registry
  • Specialized critical care in seven intensive care unit ICUs – trauma ICU,
    surgical ICU, medical ICU, two neuroscience ICUs, Cardio-Thoracic ICU and
    nursery ICU
  • The Norton Thoracic Institute – Cardiovascular Center, Thoracic Disease
    Center, Esophageal Disease Center, catheterization lab, cardiac diagnostics,
    cardiovascular research, lung cancer screening and lung transplant program
  • Complete surgical services
  • Huger Mercy Living Center, a residential facility for Alzheimer’s/dementia
    patients
