Spine

Barrow’s Spine Center combines the most advanced technology with experts in the field to correct disorders of the spine and spinal cord. Our team of spinal surgeons, radiation therapists, endovascular neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, rehabilitation specialists and other healthcare professionals has extensive experience that addresses the entire spectrum of spinal disease.

Comprehensive Treatment Options

Our Spine Center diagnoses and treats degenerative disorders, trauma, tumors and vascular diseases through both traditional and minimally invasive surgical treatment options, such as:

  • Conventional surgery using an operative microscope and spinal instrumentation
  • Minimally invasive endoscopic surgery performed with special instruments inserted through small incisions
  • Kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty to reduce pain associated with vertebral compression fractures
  • Radiosurgical treatment options that do not require surgical incisions, such as Gamma Knife and CyberKnife® radiation therapy. Barrow was the first facility in the Southwest to offer this revolutionary technology.

To facilitate your experience with us, Barrow offers a Spine Assessment Center (SAC) that provides a timely and accurate diagnosis of spine-related problems. The SAC refers patients who require extended medical management to affiliated specialists as needed, while directing surgical candidates to Barrow’s spine surgeons.

Rehabilitation After Spinal Surgery

The Spine Center also works closely with Barrow’s Neurorehabilitative Services, which offer unparalleled rehabilitative care for individuals with brain and spinal cord diseases, injuries and conditions. Patients may receive rehabilitative therapy in an inpatient or outpatient setting.

Barrow researchers are constantly working to improve or create new devices and instrumentation for the treatment of spinal disorders and diseases. The Spine Center is also heavily involved in the latest research in spinal cord injury and rehabilitation, offering hope for those afflicted with severe spinal cord injury.
