Your Visit Can Help Patients Heal

Our hospital is committed to encouraging and supporting the presence and participation of friends and families who play a significant role in helping our patients get better.

For Visitors

We have reached another milestone in our management of COVID. As a result, the following changes are being made to our visitor guidelines. Effective February 7, 2023, visitors hours will change to 7:00am - 8:00pm.

In accordance with California Department of Public Health (CDPH) State Public Health order all visitors must:

  • All visitors are required to wear a well-fitting surgical mask at all times, practice social distancing and wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) that the facility deems appropriate while in the patient's room.
  • No more than two support/visitors per patient for inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Rotating of visitors is permitted and may be discontinued at the discretion of the Charge Nurse/Department Leader or House Supervisor.
  • For Postpartum/3B. Siblings from all age groups are permitted with no more than two visitors at a time. 
  • All support persons and visitors must remain in the patient’s room. 
  • Pediatric patients and patients with Physical, Intellectual, and/or Developmental Disabilities and Cognitive Impairments: One support person allowed to be present with the patient overnight. 
  • Visitor stickers utilized for the Influenza process are being discontinued.
  • Visitors with COVID-19 or Influenza symptoms or have tested positive for covid within 10 days of the positive result will not be permitted to visit.
  • Visitation for Covid patients will be provided virtually, except when death is imminent/actively transitioning toward the end of life. Visitors will receive a visitation waiver acknowledgement form and PPE. One visitor per patient is permitted, rotation of visitors will be permitted, visitation may not exceed 30 minutes. The Charge Nurse or Primary RN has the discretion to discontinue visitation.                
  • Family members/support persons accompanying a patient receiving care or services in the facility are welcome to visit the Cafeteria, Gift Shop and access the designated visitor restrooms.  
  • Perinatal Services spouse/support person may bring food into the facility.

Visitors may be asked to leave the facility for non-compliance with any of the visitation guidelines.  

Visitor Management System

Dignity Health - St. Mary Medical Center has a new Visitor Management System in an effort to improve campus security and ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.

Health and Safety

Be Well. Please do not visit the hospital if you have any flu symptoms, including a fever over 100 degrees, cough, sore throat, runny nose, rash or diarrhea, or if you have recently been exposed to someone with symptoms.

Wash Your Hands. Be sure to wash or sanitize your hands before and after visiting your loved one. Proper hand hygiene is the best way to reduce the spread of germs.

No Smoking Campus. We are committed to caring for the health and safety of our patients, visitors, and staff. Because of this pledge, smoking and using any tobacco products is prohibited in all areas of the St. Mary Medical Center campus, including exterior walkways and parking areas. People who smoke will need to refrain from smoking or leave the campus to smoke. If you are a patient who smokes, nicotine replacement therapy is available. Please notify your doctor or nurse.
