Genetic Counseling

Genetic counseling can help determine if you carry specific gene markers that might make you more at risk for developing certain cancers. The BRCA gene, for instance, can help detect your risk for breast cancer. The Cancer Center at St. Mary’s Medical Center combines expert genetic counseling with access to the latest genetic tests.

Our Services

Our Genetic Counseling services include:

  • Documentation and evaluation of the family history, including review of available personal and family medical records
  • Discussion of potential inherited risk factors specific to the family history
  • Genetic testing
  • Personalized recommendations for cancer monitoring and prevention based on family history and/or genetic test results
