Volunteering at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital is a rewarding way to help in your community. Volunteers work in a variety of areas throughout the hospital and get first-hand experience of what it’s like to work in the health care industry.

New Volunteers Needed

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Saint Francis Memorial Hospital. We are currently accepting new volunteers for four different volunteer cohorts*:

  1. Fall Cohort: September-February 
  2. Winter Cohort: January-June 
  3. Spring Cohort: March-August 
  4. Summer Cohort: June-August 

*The cohort ranges shown above indicate the 6 month minimum volunteer time frames, with the exception of the summer cohort which only lasts 3 months.

  • Volunteers are eligible to apply for the Saint Francis Auxiliary Scholarship while they are active volunteers and have completed a minimum of 100 hours of service.

Requirements

  • Must be 14 years of age or older. High School students require 2 letters of recommendation.

  • Must commit to 100 hours of service (which includes 40 hours of service at the Information Desk) with a minimum of one (1) four-hour shift each week, unless the volunteer falls under one of the following categories:
  1. Eucharistic Ministers commit to twenty-five (25) hours of service over a six (6) month period. 
  2. Summer cohort volunteers commit to one (1) four-hour shifts a week to meet the fifty (50) hours of service during a (10) week period from June-August. 
  3. Walnut Creek Sports Medicine volunteers commit to one (1) four-hour shift a week to meet the fifty (50) hours of service commitment over a three (3) month period.
  • Complete the application process, including an interview, orientation, background check for adults (minors 2 letters of recommendation) and submit documentation for the following to receive Employee Health clearance:
    • Proof of Two-Step Tuberculin (TB) Skin Test, T-Dap Vaccination within last 10 years, Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) Titer, Varicella Titer, Hepatitis B Titer, and Influenza Vaccination (mandatory only during flu season- Nov. 1-April 30).
