Dignity Health and UCSF Health Reach Definitive Agreement
St. Mary's Medical Center, sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy and part of Dignity Health, has cared for the people of the San Francisco Bay Area since 1857, when it was founded by eight Sisters of Mercy from Ireland. We are an accredited, not-for-profit hospital located across the street from Golden Gate Park. As a full-service facility, we're home to the nation’s first digital cardiac catheterization laboratory, innovative orthopedic and spine care, state-of-the-art cancer center, and comprehensive rehabilitation programs.
We are proud to remain at the forefront of quality health care in San Francisco. For three consecutive years, from 2014-16, St. Mary’s received the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence from Healthgrades, and we’ve been named a Top Performer in Key Quality Measures by the Joint Commission. We believe in our city. We started health care in San Francisco. We believe in kindness. Through charity, advocacy, and compassion, we want to spread humankindness beyond our hospital walls.
