Trauma Patient Injuries
Trauma patients include those injured as a result of an accident such as a motor vehicle collision, a ground level fall, slipping, falling off playground equipment, hiking, bicycle and ATV accidents. Critically injured patients may also suffer from gunshot wounds, stab wounds or other penetrating trauma. For additional information  click here to read our Trauma Fact Sheet.

Trauma Team
More severe traumatic injuries will require  trauma team activation and will include patients who present symptoms indicating hypotension, decreased/lower Glasgow Coma Scale and respiratory failure.
Members of the trauma team are assigned very specific roles and responsibilities and are specially trained to care for the trauma patient, yielding better outcomes. All trauma patients, whether or not the trauma team is activated, will be entered into the trauma database.
