GILBERT, AZ - Nov. 20, 2018 - Gilbert resident and nurse at Dignity Health Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, Amy Juba, RN, recently received the DAISY Award for providing exceptional and compassionate patient care.
Juba is post anesthesia care nurse at Mercy Gilbert and Juba has contributed to developing a compassionate team of nursing staff built upon humankindness. As a leader, she promotes a comfortable and calm atmosphere by maintaining a cheerful demeanor and providing expert knowledge to her patients and fellow nursing staff. Those under her care speak of the genuine kindness, trustworthiness and respect Juba brings to every situation.
The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses is part of The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Foundation’s program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses make every day.
The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation, based in Glen Ellen, Calif., was established by Mark Barnes and his family in memory of his son Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33 in 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little-known autoimmune disease. The nursing care Patrick and his family received while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and families.
“Nurses play a special role in patient care, and it’s very important to us that our nurses know the exceptional work they deliver each day is highly valued,” says Mark Slyter, president and CEO of Dignity Health Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers. “With this award, The DAISY Foundation has provided hospitals from around the world another way to do that. We are proud to be among the hospital systems participating in The DAISY Award program.”
