Mercy Gilbert Adds New Member to Surgical Team

da Vinci® Si HD™ Surgical System to Provide New Options for Patients

Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, a Dignity Health Member, added a new associate to its surgical team: the da Vinci®Si HD™ Surgical System. This robot sits on the cutting edge of medical technology and will provide the community with minimally invasive options to traditional surgical procedures.

"This piece of equipment provides a wealth of benefits to our staff and patients," said Tim Bricker, president and CEO of Mercy Gilbert and Chandler Regional Medical Centers. "We are committed to advancing the level of medical care we provide and the implementation of this technology is a great example of that pledge."

Da Vinci's advanced level of technology takes surgery beyond the limits of the human hand. Procedures are still controlled by the surgeon whose capabilities are complemented by a robotic platform. With magnified, three-dimensional, high-definition views of the procedure site and superior visual clarity of tissue and anatomy, surgeons are able to direct the robot in executing precise movements.

The da Vinci® Si HD™ can be used for a multitude of procedures, including prostatectomy, hysterectomy, myomectomy and colorectal surgery.

Mercy Gilbert's sister hospital, Chandler Regional Medical Center brought patients the da Vinci® Si HD™ system in 2010. Since then, the hospital has acquired a second robot and surgeons have performed more than 800 minimally invasive procedures and surgeries.
