Mercy Gilbert Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Posted in:

Gilbert’s first full-service hospital celebrated its 10-year anniversary on Sunday, June 5. Since opening its doors in 2006, Dignity Health Mercy Gilbert Medical Center has grown to become a premier hospital and has played a large role in Gilbert’s growth.

“We are proud of Mercy Gilbert’s commitment to maintaining the health of Gilbert residents,” says Tim Bricker, President of Mercy Gilbert. “The hospital has been devoted to caring for the community and has become an integral part of the local economy.”

Mercy Gilbert first opened as a four-story facility with 92 private rooms and 429 employees. Today, the hospital houses nearly 200 private rooms and employs approximately 1,250 staff members. In 2014, Mercy Gilbert partnered with Phoenix Children’s Hospital to open a 22-bed pediatric unit on the hospital’s campus.

“In the last 10 years, we have seen steady growth and a need to expand our services,” says Bricker. “As the Gilbert population grows, we will look into further expansion.”

Hospital staff celebrated the special anniversary with a wide array of events, including a pancake breakfast, high tea and a special blessing of the hands.

Mercy Gilbert is part of Dignity Health, one of the nation’s largest health care systems. Dignity Health hospitals in Arizona also include Chandler Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center and St. Joseph’s-Westgate Medical Center.
