How to Apply

Dear Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in the Creighton University School of Medicine/St Joseph's Medical Center (Phoenix) Program. Recently Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center (SJHMC), Creighton University (CUSOM), Maricopa Integrated Health System (MIHS), and District Medical Group (DMG) joined forces to form the Creighton University Arizona Health Education Alliance.  This partnership brings together a university recognized for providing outstanding training for students and residents in the health sciences and two healthcare providers known for their impressive history of caring for members of the greater Phoenix community.

We are requiring that all applications be sent through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) ACGME Program ID#: 1400311027.  Paper or email applications will not be accepted by either program.

The requirements for all applicants to our program are listed below (for categorical and preliminary):

  1. USMLE score requirement of 215 for Step 1 and Step 2 CK with a passing score on the first attempt for each; we also require passage of USMLE Step 2 CS on the first attempt

  2. Our medical school graduation year cut-off is 5 years

  3. Minimum of three months U.S. clinical experience (observership or externship is acceptable, research is not)

  4. US Citizens, Permanent residents, Green Card holders, or J1 Visa (sponsored by ECFMG) are welcome to apply

  5. IMG’s do not have to have ECFMG certificate to apply, but must have by the time you would start residency

  6. Deadline to apply is November 30, 2018

  7. 3 Letter’s of Recommendation. (Chair letter is preferred, but not required)

Our goal is to have both residency programs SJHMC and MIHS fully merged and using one ACGME program identification number by next summer. Currently, MMC recruits for 17 categorical and 4 preliminary positions each year and St. Joseph’s recruits for 9 categorical and 3 preliminary positions each year.  There is no current plan to decrease the program size when our programs are fully merged.
