Jaya Raj, MD


Raj_ JayaJaya Raj, MD is a graduate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Columbia‐Presbyterian Hospital in New York. Dr. Raj has more than twenty years of experience in teaching residents and medical students, including over 13 years as a residency program director. She joined the Department of  Internal Medicine Program at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center as its residency director in December 2008.

Dr. Raj is a fellow in the American College of Physicians (ACP) and is active in the Arizona Chapter of the ACP; in 2012 she was the recipient of the ACP Educator of the Year Award. She has also held leadership positions in the Mountain West Chapter Society of General Internal Medicine.  She holds faculty appointments at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, the University of Arizona College of Medicine, and Creighton University School of Medicine, and was a University of Arizona Dean’s Teaching Scholar. 

She is also active in the national Association for Program Directors in Internal Medicine, where she has presented workshops on topics such as “Milestones in Resident Assessment and Evaluation,” “Faculty Development for Clinical Competency Committees,” and “Building Your Leadership Team.”
