Program Highlights

Congratulations! To the 2017 Graduates of the Internal Medicine Residency Program for achieving a 100% Board Pass Rate! Our 3 year Board Pass rate is now 96% which is the highest in the State of Arizona.

Our program became part of the Creighton University-Arizona Health Education Alliance with the merger of GME programs from Creighton University, Maricopa Integrated Health System and Saint Joseph’s Medical Center. These three institutions are all now under the sponsorship of Creighton University School of Medicine. The commitment of this Alliance is to have programs that are at the forefront of advanced medical education, research and training of new generations of physicians to improve the health outcomes of our community, state and nation.

The mission of the Internal Medicine Training Program is to train future generations of doctors who will lead the nation in providing outstanding hospital-based, ambulatory, and subspecialty care.  To achieve this, the program cultivates an environment of inquiry and collaboration, in which physicians at all stages of their careers can maximize their professional growth in the challenging discipline of Internal Medicine.  Our residents boast the highest board pass rate in Arizona and are highly successful in obtaining desirable jobs and fellowships upon graduation. Our faculty are well versed in their field of practice and hold faculty appointments with Creighton University School of Medicine.

Internal Medicine Program Highlights

Comprehensive Professional Training

Faculty and residents work collegially to ensure that each and every resident is able to realize his/her full potential as well as his/her professional and personal goals. This is achieved via a rigorous program of clinical rotations, scholarly activity, didactic conferences, web-based learning modules, and a flexible, wide-ranged set of electives.

In addition to acquiring a solid foundation in inpatient and ambulatory general medicine, residents in our program also have rotations in cardiology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, infectious disease, nephrology, hematology/oncology, rheumatology, endocrinology, neurology and geriatrics. They may also choose from electives in non-Internal Medicine specialties such a ophthalmology, radiology and anesthesiology.
