Jason T. Wiseman, MD, MSPH, is a surgical oncologist with Dignity Health – Cancer Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center.
Dr. Wiseman specializes in the care of patients requiring surgical treatment related to melanoma, sarcoma and breast oncology. He is trained in open, laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He is board certified in general surgery and complex general surgical oncology. He is a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology and the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Wiseman received his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, graduating with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. His general surgery residency training was done at the University of Massachusetts, where he received the H. B. Wheeler MD award, recognizing his demonstration of human values. He completed a National Institutes of Health T32 Surgical Outcomes Research Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also served a fellowship in complex general surgical oncology at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Dr. Wiseman’s research interests are primarily in health services research and surgical quality of care. He holds a master’s degree in population health from the University of Wisconsin. He has presented his research at regional, national, and international meetings and has also published in high impact journals.
Dr. Wiseman believes that high quality, patient-centered surgical care should be available to all patients regardless of means or background. He believes cancer care should be performed in a multidisciplinary, team-based approach that focuses on the patient and their family to obtain the best possible outcome. He is committed to the complete care of his patients.
