James Spivey, MD is the Robert Craig Chair of Internal Medicine for Dignity Health Medical Group. In addition to overseeing the entire Internal Medicine department, he is an Internist, Gastroenterologist, and Hepatologist, and provides services to our patients as a practicing physician within the St. Joseph’s Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation.
Dr. Spivey’s expertise includes acute and chronic liver diseases, hepatobiliary malignancy and liver transplantation, and he is board certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology.
He is currently a member of the American Association for the study of Liver Disease, the American Gastroenterology Association and the American Transplant Society.
Dr. Spivey received his medical degree from Tulane University. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, as well as one fellowship in Hepatology at the University of Miami, and one fellowship in gastroenterology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
