Who is eligible?

You are eligible to use the St. Joseph’s Heart and Vascular Second Opinion Program if you meet the following criteria:

  1. You have been recently diagnosed with one of the following cardiology conditions:
    • Atrial Fibrillation
    • Valve disorder (coming soon)
  2. You have a previous medical history that that clearly shows the disease or pathology in question.
  3. You have already seen and been diagnosed by a physician as having one of the conditions above.

How old do I have to be to participate?

You must be at least 18 years old to request a second opinion.

How long does the process take?

We will have your completed second opinion to you within 7 business days from the receipt of your questionnaire and any further information we may request or require. 

Does my doctor need to be involved?

You do not need to have your doctor submit your second opinion question on your behalf. However, you may want to consult with your family physician in your area if you have trouble understanding or interpreting our treatment recommendation.

Is it covered by my insurance?

Please consult your individual policy guidelines or insurance company to see if second opinion services are covered. St. Joseph’s does not bill your insurance company directly for cardiovascular second opinions. You will need to submit a request for reimbursement to your insurance company if applicable.
