Ashraf Omar, MD, the Associate Medical Director of the Lung Transplant Program at Norton Thoracic Institute, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Omar is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, critical care medicine, and sleep medicine.
He is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians and the American College of Physicians, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He is fluent in English and Arabic.
Dr. Omar earned his medical degree and a master’s degree in toxicology from Alexandria University in Egypt. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Chicago Medical School, and a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at the University of Arizona. Dr. Omar completed a fellowship in lung transplantation at Norton Thoracic Institute before joining the institute’s medical staff.
“The way we approach our patients who have advanced lung disease is very individualized,” says Dr. Omar. “There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, we listen carefully to the patient’s goals and expected outcomes, review their options for medical or surgical management, and work to find a solution that satisfies the patient’s goals and our goals.”
