Shair Ahmed, MD, is a thoracic surgeon at Norton Thoracic Institute, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. He also provides care in the East Valley Office. Dr. Ahmed is board certified in both cardiothoracic and general surgery. Dr. Ahmed specializes in lung transplantation, benign and malignant esophageal disease, and lung cancer.
Dr. Ahmed earned his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine and completed a residency in general surgery at the Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Before joining the medical staff of Norton Thoracic Institute, Dr. Ahmed completed visiting rotations at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City and here at Norton Thoracic Institute.
