YRMC’s Physical Rehabilitation Services team includes occupational therapists dedicated to helping patients return to their activities of daily living following an injury or illness. Using technology, adaptive equipment and physical rehabilitation our occupational therapists work with you to help you reach your top level of function and independence. Your individually crafted plan may include:

  • Sports and injury rehabilitation, including western Yavapai County’s only AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill. Based on NASA technology, the AlterG Treadmill decreases the pull of gravity on the body, lessening the impact, tension and stress on the joints. By reducing stress, the AlterG Treadmill promotes healing after sports injuries as well as joint replacement and back surgery. It also helps people with balance and movement problems due to stroke, Parkinson’s disease or other neurologic disorders.

Women’s health needs are a unique focus of YRMC’s Physical Rehabilitation Services. Our rehabilitation experts—occupational, physical and speech therapists—pool their knowledge to address a variety of significant women’s health issues. Our team includes western Yavapai County’s only lymphedema therapist certified by the Lymphology Association of North America (LANA). Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. A physician’s prescription is required for all therapies. You may want to check with your insurance provider to see if preauthorization for treatment is required or YRMC can assist you with preauthorization.

 

Wear comfortable clothing and try to wear shorts if your therapy will involve your knees. Be sure to bring your insurance card, a list of medications you are currently taking and your medical history, including any surgeries and/or diagnoses.

You’ll meet YRMC’s Physical Rehabilitation team and receive a thorough assessment of your physical rehabilitation needs and challenges. With this information, a personalized care plan will be developed to help you achieve your healing and recovery goals.

YRMC’s Physical Rehabilitation is unique in that our licensed and experienced therapists develop and implement your therapy plan. While other centers use technicians or aides for therapy sessions, we provide you full 45-minute, one-to-one therapy sessions with licensed therapists. This allows us to track your progress and adjust your therapy plan as needed.

The number of sessions you need depends on your diagnosis and the type of treatment you require. Your treatment plan will be customized to your health needs. Your Physical Rehabilitation Services therapist will carefully monitor your progress as you work toward your goals.

The cost of this program should fall under your health insurance company’s physical therapy benefit. It’s always best to check with your insurance provider before starting any new care program.

The program consists of five, two-hour classes that meet on consecutive Fridays, followed by an empowerment group on week six where you can practice learned skill sets.
