Education

Medical School Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) medical honors society and graduated With Distinction. 

Internship and residency in Orthopedic Surgery at University of Vermont Medical Center

Fellowship training in Orthopaedic Traumatology at the University of California San Francisco.

Specialties

Dr. Geer is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty fellowship training in orthopaedic trauma and fractures.  Dr. Geer treats fractures throughout the body, from the shoulder blade to the wrist and from the pelvis to the toes.  This includes both operative and non-operative care of injured patients.  His specialty training includes the surgical and non-surgical treatment of pelvis and hip socket fractures.  He also cares for patients with complications from injuries, including fractures that don’t heal (nonunions), fractures that heal in poor alignment (malunions), and those with infections.  His particular areas of interest include injuries to the elbow.

Biography

Dr. Geer maintains an active interest in academic medicine where he educates orthopaedic surgery residents in orthopaedic trauma and fracture surgery.  He is a faculty member of AO North America (AONA), the premiere organization for teaching the principles of fracture management.  Through AONA, he has lectured at both local, national, and international meetings.  He has published peer reviewed articles, co-authored book chapters, and won awards for clinical excellence and teaching excellence.  He has also developed an educational program for the Advanced Practice Providers (PA’s and NP’s) in their group, where he serves as their Physician Liaison.  Dr. Geer is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Creighton School of Medicine, Phoenix Campus.

Dr. Geer and his family hail from the Midwest (Michigan), traveling to Arizona him and his wife are raising 3 wonderful children and 2 rambunctious yellow Labrador retrievers.
