The Center for Sports Medicine physical therapy team in Walnut Creek is highly trained and committed to providing each individual with a customized treatment plan. You receive physical therapy and a physical therapy plan tailored to your needs that help you reach your top performance goals.
Mari Ball, MSPT, uses her training in Pilates and active release technique (ART) to help rehabilitate her patients. Mari received her BS in biological sciences from UC Davis and her MS in physical therapy from Northwestern University.
Glen Barker, MS, ATC, is the head athletic trainer at Northgate High School (NHS) and founder and teacher of the popular NHS Sports Medicine program. Glen also teaches at Diablo Valley College and JFK University. He received his MS in Athletic Training and athletic training certification ATC at the University of Oregon.
Neil Claveria, PT, specializes in orthopedic and neurological functional manual therapy, active release techniques (ART), and exercise training with an emphasis on the lower quadrant, as well as spine treatment. He received his BS in physical therapy at Our Lady of Fatima University, Philippines and his BS in Biology at De LaSalle University, Manila.
Patricia Commer, DPT, specializes in musculoskeletal disorders, pelvic instability, shoulder rehabilitation, foot disorders, and lumbar issues in pregnancy. She has a wide range of experience, from treating athletes at all levels, to having a strong geriatric patient base. She received her doctorate of physical therapy at Samuel Merritt University, Oakland.
Brenton Dowdy, DPT, specializes in manual therapy. Brenton believes in incorporating both joint mobilizations and soft tissue techniques into his treatment. He received his BS in Biology at the University of Washington, Seattle and his doctorate of physical therapy at Texas Woman's University, Dallas.
Meghann Oakes, DPT, specializes in combining the principles of movement system impairment syndromes (MSI) with Pilates-based physical therapy to identify and correct impairments in movement, alignment, and performance. She received her BA in dance at UC Irvine and her doctorate of physical therapy at Washington University in St. Louis.
Thomas Oshimo, MPT, ATC, has utilized his skills in athletic training, deep tissue techniques, manual therapy, and customized exercise programs for more than 30 years. He has worked with athletes from Olympic speed and synchronized swimmers, professional basketball and baseball players to professional triathletes and professional ballet and modern dancers. Thomas received his BA in Physiology at UC Berkeley and his Masters in Physical Therapy at Stanford University.
Ernie Rodriguez, MPT, specializes in incorporating soft tissue mobilization techniques in conjunction with therapeutic exercises for return to sport or activity level. He received his master’s in physical therapy from Old Dominion University.
Joyce Warren, DPT, is the physical therapy supervisor. She has experience in orthopedics, musculoskeletal/sports related injuries, work related injuries, repetitive stress and dance injuries. She specializes in Pilates-based rehabilitation. Joyce received her BFA in dance and BA in psychology at UC Santa Barbara and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California.
