The Summer Teen Volunteer Program is for high school students (minimum age 16 years old by June 1, 2019) is a 3 week program with a mandatory volunteer information session scheduled on May 14th at 5:00 PM. There will be 2 sessions available to apply for.
Our teen volunteers participating will serve in a variety of ways:
Commitment: If accepted as a 2019 Summer Teen volunteer you are making a commitment to volunteer weekly to complete the minimum hours.
Participation is for the entire length of the session is required. You will obtain 60 hours at the end of your session.
Application: All potential volunteers who can meet the above commitment are asked to complete the application process. Deadline for the 2019 summer program is April 12th. Application includes a personal essay, Parental Consent Form as well as a health clearance screening. 18 year of age and older requires a background check.
Interview: Phone interviews will take place between April 15th – April 19th.
Informational Session: If accepted into the 2019 program you must attend a mandatory information session scheduled on May 14th at 5:00 PM. You need to be cleared by employee health no later than this date in order to be eligible for the program. You will be assigned a session on this day as well as receive your Summer T-shirt.
Orientation: Will be held on the first day of your session. You will learn about our organization, what it means to volunteer, policies, rules and regulations.
Training: You will receive on-the job training in your assigned placements.

Volunteering can be a rewarding activity, but it is also a serious commitment. Volunteering requires that you will be willing to learn, be reliable, and be responsible.
Please consider carefully whether this time commitment will fit your schedule as the departments depend on their volunteers.
Our High School Volunteer roles include assignments in the Gift Shop; Information Desk areas; and Administrative areas. Students placed at the Information Desk areas escort visitors; provide directions; or run errands. Gift Shop volunteers assist customers; restock merchandise; etc. High School Volunteers are not allowed to shadow, observe, or conduct research.
