Volunteer

Thank you for expressing an interest in volunteering at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Volunteers add to the caring culture for our patients, and make valuable contributions within many departments throughout our hospitals.

To serve as an in-service volunteer, one must be at least 14 years of age with no upper limits as long as one can safely fulfill the duties of their role.

We have volunteers serving throughout the hospital:

  • Information Desk Volunteers
  • Gift Shop
  • Eucharistic Ministry
  • Light administrative and clerical duties
  • Nursing Units, clinics, therapy and emergency departments
  • Music volunteers

Many of our volunteers want to give back to their community, or to acquire service hours for school. Some volunteers are considering a career change and one possibility is healthcare. Some of our volunteers are recent retirees, and they’re looking to add worthwhile activities into their lives. No matter what stage of life you are in, it’s always a good time to start volunteering.  We would be pleased to have you join our corps of volunteers.

To learn about the volunteer application process, contact Christy-Joy Chirby at [email protected] or call at (415) 750-8133 for volunteering opportunities at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
