Questions and Answers

Q: I am currently a member of Physicians Medical Group of Santa Cruz (PMG). Is there anything I need to do?

There is nothing that PMG members need to do. We will continue to operate as we have before and patient care will not be affected. You can continue to see your same primary and specialty care providers and do not need to change health plans.

If you have additional questions about your plan, please call PMG’s local Patient Care Coordinators at 831.465.7800, or 866.660.4288 (TYY) to access the line for hearing impaired.

Q: How does this announcement benefit patient care in the community?

This agreement is good news for our patients who will benefit in the long run from more integrated and comprehensive services for the community, including more coordination between health care providers and the possibility for additional health plan options. It will also enable PMG affiliated physicians to stay local and remain independent while continuing to offer the high quality care that our patients expect.

We also anticipate that we’ll be able to bring in additional needed primary and specialty care physicians into the community.

Q: How will this benefit the Santa Cruz economy?

We will strengthen the existing relationships with employed physicians, independent providers, hospitals, and other health care delivery systems, helping us to serve our patients across the full care continuum.  The agreement will not only enhance our existing services, but it will also help us stay local and serve the growing needs of Santa Cruz. This arrangement will allow us to offer more robust services available this side of the hill.

Q: Why is PMG affiliating with Dignity Health?

PMG has had a long and successful relationship with Dignity Health and Dignity Health Medical Foundation.

The agreement will not only enhance our existing services, but it will also ensure long-term sustainability and help us serve the growing needs of Santa Cruz.

Q: What is Dignity Health Medical Network?

Dignity Health Medical Network (DHMN) is a managed care health plan contracting entity for independent physician associations in California. Like PMG, the DHMN will administer health plan benefits and quality measures.
