Much like the “GPS” in its name suggests, the ExcelsiusGPS® system assists spine surgeons in navigating each patient’s unique anatomy. The technology enables greater precision during spine procedures, from simple to complex.
On the day of the procedure, images of the spine are taken and imported into the ExcelsiusGPS® system. This step allows the surgeon to determine the correct sizing and placement of spinal implants. It is through this process that the surgeon creates a personalized treatment plan for each patient tailored to his or her own anatomy.
During the procedure itself, the surgeon guides a robotic arm to mapped locations of the spine based on this new imagery. Once there, the surgeon precisely places the implant in the intended location.
