We at Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Stockton, California are thrilled to announce the start of a new program in Medical Education at our facility. This summer 2021, we will welcome the first residents for the Anesthesia Residency Program.

Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Medical Center Anesthesiology Residency four-year program offers a robust and comprehensive training experience with opportunities to rotate to several affiliated institutions, including Mercy San Juan Medical Center, Shriners Hospitals for Children - Northern California, and Valley Children's Hospital.

A Day in the Life of a Resident

Typical day during general operating room rotation starts around 06:30 AM with setting up the operating room and performing preoperative evaluation and obtaining informed consent of the first patient.

Medical student rotation is an elective four-week experience offered to third and fourth-year medical students.

Annual salary is competitive within our region and is approved annually by human resources and the graduate medical education committee.

Health and Wellness

The purpose of the departmental wellness committee is to promote physical and emotional health and well-being of all departmental members. The committee consists of residents and faculty, which has a program that features a comprehensive curriculum based on four domains of wellbeing: professional, physical, psychological and social.

How to Apply

The program director reviews credentials and selects applicants to visit the department for an interview. Interviews are conducted from November to February. Final selection of residents is by committee, based upon the application and the interview.
