The St. John’s Weight Loss Surgery Institute at St. John’s Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) is pleased to announce it has received the 2018 Women’s Choice Award® as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Bariatric Surgery.
This evidence-based designation is the only award that identifies the country’s best health care institutions based on robust criteria that consider female patient satisfaction, clinical excellence, and what women say they want from a hospital. The America’s Best Hospitals for Bariatric Surgery scoring process is unique in that it is the only national list that is evidence-based and focuses on female patient satisfaction.
“This most recent accolade highlights the program and hospital’s commitment to helping people live healthier lives. Being recognized with the Women’s Choice Award assures our patients that the bariatric surgery program at St. John’s adheres to the highest standards in patient safety and outcomes,” said Helmuth Billy, MD, Medical Director of the St. John’s Weight Loss Surgery Institute. “We are pleased that our efforts to achieve excellence in patient education, outcome and long-term support are being recognized. This achievement means patients can be confident that the best results they can experience will be at the St. John’s Weight Loss Surgery Institute.”
Hospitals such as St. John’s Regional Medical Center that earn the 2018 America’s Best Hospitals for Bariatric Surgery Award® have met the high standards of The American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) through the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).
In addition, the hospitals received a patient recommendation rating above the national average on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
“Our dedication to quality care in metabolic surgery is reflected in our designation as both a BlueCross Center of Distinction and the ACS/ASMBS, MBSAQIP center of excellence in bariatric surgery,” said Amir Mehran, MD, Bariatric Surgeon at the St. John’s Weight Loss Surgery Institute. “Earning the coveted Women’s Choice Award® is a testament to the commitment of the hospital, staff and the bariatric surgeons to patient safety and excellence in outcomes.”
The St. John’s Weight Loss Surgery Institute program offers all of the key components that contribute to weight loss success:
We believe that involving the families of our patients is also a critical factor in achieving long term weight loss. We encourage their participation in the educational portions of our program, so they can support their loved one on this journey.
