The Integrated Breast Center at St. John's

The Integrated Breast Center (IBC) at St. John’s is a patient-centered program led by a multidisciplinary team of breast cancer care experts. Best of all, services at the IBC are free of charge. Our team reviews new and recurrent breast cancer cases and develops a personalized treatment plan with follow-up care. After, the patient can begin working with our oncology nurse navigator in their own unique treatment process using the latest scientific advances, personalized medicine, and mindful lifestyle approach.

The IBC is a leader in cancer care, and is 1 of 33 centers accredited by the NAPBC in California, it is also a designated Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, recipient of local and national grant awards including from the Avon Foundation, Plastic Surgery Foundation’s Breast Reconstruction Surgery Public Awareness Grant, Meadowlark Service League, Dignity Health Oncology Grant, and Sientra Full Circle Grant.

Our services

Convenience and Collaboration
The IBC is comprised of a highly specialized multidisciplinary team: breast specialists, oncology nurses, radiologists, pathologists, and therapists, who provide integrated oncology care to the community.

Oncology Nurse Navigator
Our bilingual (English and Spanish) nurse navigator is a trained oncology nurse practitioner who plays a crucial role as a touch-point for the patient. The nurse navigator is available to answer questions and guide patients from diagnosis through survivorship and on. The addition of a nurse navigator in treatment has proven to be beneficial for cancer patients.

Jennifer Diamond Cancer Education Library
Our center has an on-site library with tools and educational materials about cancer for patients, family members, and caretakers.

Cutting-edge technology

Two notable additions to our program are the SAVI Scout® and the MOZART system. The SAVI SCOUT® makes lumpectomies—breast-conserving surgeries where only part of the breast is removed—easier for patients and physicians by accurately pinpointing tumors before surgery. By seeing exactly where the tumors are ahead of surgery, surgeons can go straight to the abnormality during surgery and more precisely remove the entire tumor.

The MOZART system is a radiography machine that provides on-the-spot inspection of breast and tissue during surgery to help the surgeons see if they have removed enough breast tissue. This decreases the chance of needing to come back for another surgery for positive margins. The mobile, self-contained system provides unparalleled precision and faster results during surgery.
