Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican, the community’s only not-for-profit, faith-based hospital system, has made $364,332 in grant awards to seven nonprofit collaborations in Henderson and Las Vegas.

Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican, the community’s only not-for-profit, faith-based hospital system, has made $364,332 in grant awards to seven nonprofit collaborations in Henderson and Las Vegas. St. Rose has awarded grants to community programs for more than 20 years.

“For over 70 years, St. Rose has been committed to improving the health of our community,” said Eugene Bassett, Senior Vice President of Operations, Dignity Health Nevada. “To ensure we are helping to build a healthier tomorrow, we have partnered with these community organizations to provide people with the resources they need to better care for themselves and for each other.” Community organization recipients included:

  • $75,195 for Mobilizing Medical Care for the Homeless – Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada
  • $60,000 for Second Responders 911 Referral Program – Las Vegas CHIPS
  • $99,503 for Grow the Veggie Buck Truck – Together We Can
  • $54,634 for Training Promotores – Vision Y Compromiso
  • $25,000 for transportation for homebound – Lend a Hand of Boulder City
  • $25,000 for Trac-B Need Exchange – Nevada AIDS Research and Education Society
  • $25,000 for Keeping Kids Fit – Vegas PBS

To be selected for a grant, an organization or program must meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Address the greatest health needs of the community;
  • Emphasize prevention to address the underlying cause of health problems;
  • Contribute to a seamless continuum of care;
  • Build upon and mobilize existing services in the community; and
  • Engage diverse community stakeholders in implementation and oversight.
