Plane crash leads to breast cancer diagnosis


A local cancer survivor is in remission and shares why she now realizes the importance of doing self-exams for breast cancer.
Several years ago, Anita Marth survived a plane crash in which she was critically injured, including head injuries, multiple rib fractures, broken collarbone and shoulder blade. As part of her medical treatment she received a CT scan that detected something in her breast and doctors suggested she follow up with a mammogram. At the time, doctors were focused on saving her life. Two years later, a mammogram confirmed breast cancer.
