The May issue of Comstock’s Magazine is a tribute to women in leadership, profiling local women in a variety of professions, including health care. In the article, “In Safe Hands,” reporter Jeff Wilser writes that health care is the backbone of Sacramento’s economy, with all four of the region’s health centers or systems led by female executives. Laurie Harting, senior vice president of operations, greater Sacramento service area, Dignity Health, discusses the importance of female mentors for women who want to become leaders in health care. She also mentions the changes and new focus due to the ACA, the importance of technology and that the basics of health care still matter. “It’s all about the patients. When I go to sleep at night, I think about all my priorities and I think about what’s going to help the patients.”
