Information for Faculty and Speakers


Dear Invited Speaker,         

As a provider of Continuing Medical Education (CME) accredited by the Institute for Medical Quality/ California Medical Association, Dignity Health Sacramento’s Office of CME must ensure balance, independence, objectivity, and scientific rigor in all educational activities. For all AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ CME activities, Dignity Health places a high priority on the health and well being of the public and requires that all recommendations involving clinical medicine in a CME activity be based on evidence that is accepted within the profession of medicine. All scientific research referred to, reported, or used in CME in support of patient care recommendations must conform to the generally accepted standards of experimental design, data collection, and analysis. 

  1. The content of this program is intended to promote improvements or quality in health care and not specific proprietary business interests of commercial entities.
  2. All decisions made with regard to presentations (or the planning of this activity) are free of the control of commercial interest(s).
  3. Presentations will give a balanced view of therapeutic options and evidence based studies will be cited whenever possible. Product recommendations will not be included.
  4. Financial relationships of speakers and planners will be disclosed to the audience.
  5. Faculty (speakers, authors, planners) will not receive direct remuneration from a commercial supporter of this activity and will abide by Dignity Health's honoraria policy. Failure to disclose will preclude speakers and planners from participating in this educational activity.
  6. Never include patient name or identifier 

All presenters must abide by the following:

  • Support the presentation and clinical recommendations with the “best available evidence” from the medical literature;
  • Refrain from making recommendations regarding products or services;
  • Refrain from using trade names or product group messages;
  • Company logos, trademarks or register marks are not allowed;
  • Limit presentation to pathophysiology, diagnosis, and/or research findings;
  • Will uphold academic standards to insure balance, independence, objectivity, and scientific rigor;
  • Agree to comply with the requirements to protect health information under the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act of 1996. (HIPAA);
  • Inform learners when discussing or referencing unapproved or unlabeled uses of therapeutic agents or products.
