Community and Local Area Information

Ideally located in northern California, just a short drive to the San Francisco Bay Area in one direction and beautiful Lake Tahoe in another, Yolo County is rich in opportunities to experience history, community, and nature. 

Yolo County enjoys a relatively small population of around 200,000 and median housing prices under $400,000. A short distance from the urban setting of Sacramento, California's state capital, Yolo County cities vary from small farming towns to collegiate communities. 

Residents here enjoy mild winters and warm summers, with average temperatures ranging from the mid-30s in January to the mid-90s in July. 

Area residents enjoy a blend of history and performing arts with attractions including the Woodland Opera House and Mondavi Center. Museums and galleries for exploring ranging from hands-on programs like those at Explorit Science Center and the Davis Art Center to the fun, historic collections found at the Heidrick Ag History Center and Hays Antique Truck Museum.
