Woodland Clinic Medical Group Announces New Chief Medical Officer


In this role, Dr. Arif will be responsible for patient safety and satisfaction, quality clinical care, provider engagement and recruitment, performance, and growth.

WOOLAND, CA - October 9, 2017 – WOODLAND, Calif, October 9, 2017 – Woodland Clinic Medical Group has announced today the appointment of Khuram Arif, MD, as Chief Medical Officer (CMO). In this role, Dr. Arif will be responsible for patient safety and satisfaction, quality clinical care, provider engagement and recruitment, performance, and growth. 

“As both a pediatrician and a health care leader, Dr. Arif is a tireless advocate for quality and safety, as well as delivering outstanding patient experiences,” said Karen Hopp, MD, CEO of Woodland Clinic Medical Group. “His leadership will be a valuable addition to Woodland Clinic Medical Group, allowing us to continue to provide high quality, affordable, patient-centric care now and into the future.”

Prior to becoming CMO of Woodland Clinic Medical Group, Dr. Arif held numerous leadership positions at Mercy Medical Group, a multi-specialty group of more than 400 providers based in Sacramento, California. He served as Medical Director for Managed Care, Chair for the Department of Pediatrics, Site Medical Director at the Mercy Medical Group Big Horn clinic, and was a Board Member of the Mercy Medical Group Board of Directors. Mercy Medical Group and their providers are affiliated with Dignity Health Medical Foundation and Dignity Health hospitals.

A graduate of The Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi Pakistan, Dr. Arif completed his internship and residency in pediatrics at SUNY Health Science Center in Brooklyn. While there he was also Chief Resident. Dr. Arif also earned a MBA from UC Davis Graduate School of Management.
