Our Care Includes The Health Of The Community
California Hospital goes beyond the acute-care setting of our hospital to help improve the long-term health of the communities we serve.
Each year, California Hospital impacts the lives of individuals through wellness exams, diagnosis, state-of-the-art research and medical treatments, community events, educational programs, and other services.
Every Dignity Health hospital conducts a community health assessment and identifies strategic priorities based on this assessment. You can view our Health Needs Assessment report here. At California Hospital, we fulfill our mission by investing in community outreach and educational programs, participating in advocacy efforts, and establishing partnerships in the community to improve health.
We have a very robust Community Benefit Department at our hospital. Download our full 2015 Community Benefit Implementation Plan here.
Last year, California Hospital Medical Center provided over $101 million in community benefits.
To better meet the needs of our community under one roof, California Hospital recently opened a free standing, state-of-the-art facility one block from the hospital, Hope Street Family Center.
Hope Street Family Center is a community benefit program of California Hospital Medical Center that provides in-home and on-site educational, health wellness, behavioral health, developmental, and social services, that support children and families.
Community Health Needs Assessment & Plan
At Dignity Health, a key part of our mission is supporting the health of our communities in meaningful, measurable ways. It is also part of our mandate as a non-profit healthcare provider under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. That is why each and every one of our hospitals goes to great lengths to study and ascertain the most pressing health needs of the communities they serve. This process and its conclusions are described in a document called the Community Health Needs Assessment, which is updated every three years.
